The mission of the Capital Area Food Bank is to help our neighbors thrive by creating more equitable access to food and opportunity through community partnerships.

The Capital Area Food Bank anchors the hunger relief infrastructure in the Greater Washington Region as the largest supplier of free food in the District of Colombia, suburban Maryland, and northern Virginia. We believe that food security can enable better health, education, and a pathway towards more inclusive economic growth. The food bank is a connector, convener, and collaborator, with a model built on partnerships with community organizations, the private sector, governments, and civil society.
